The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Dr. Nenad Stevandic, attended the grand opening of "Terme Banjaluka" today in the Banjaluka suburb of Srpske Toplice. The new spa and recreational center will provide physical medicine and rehabilitation services.
The ceremony began with the national anthems of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia, "Moja Republika" and "Boze pravde." In addition to President Stevandic, the event was attended by the President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik; the newly elected Prime Minister of Srpska, Savo Minic; and representatives from the executive and local governments, as well as public and social life in Srpska.
The project was led by the Institute for Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation, and Orthopedic Surgery "Dr Miroslav Zotovic," with support from the President and Government of the Republic of Srpska.
According to Goran Talic, the director of the Institute for Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation, and Orthopedic Surgery "Dr Miroslav Zotovic," the goal for "Terme Banjaluka" is to be an energy- and economically sustainable complex. It is intended to be a modern spa and recreational center where natural resources and human expertise—tradition and the future—come together.
Addressing the guests, Talic said the Institute's goal is to offer a place in the heart of the city that will serve as a sanctuary for health, recovery, and recreation—an oasis of peace, as well as an attractive destination for tourists.
Talic stated, "'Terme Banjaluka' and the complex in Slatina are, and should remain, state projects. We will continue to work and build. Thank you for being here tonight to celebrate the completion of this significant project, and I am proud that we did it together." He added that the journey was not easy and there were difficult moments, but the desire to restore the spa to Banjaluka and its people was stronger.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Srpska, Alen Seranic, said that "Terme Banjaluka" is a healthcare facility built to the highest standards, with all the necessary amenities to provide and develop new medical and recreational services that will be a source of pride for both Banjaluka and the Republic of Srpska. Seranic noted that, with its unique character and range of services, this center brings new value to both the tourism and healthcare systems of the Republic of Srpska, in which significant investments are being made.
The President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, congratulated everyone on the completion of another exceptional project. "We are in a wonderful evening, one that has been years in the making, and now we are handing over this complex to future generations. Due to the transition and wars in these areas, it had been eroded by the ravages of time. It cost a lot to restore its shine, but every penny was justified, because we once again have something that is an urban offering of the city of Banjaluka," Dodik said.
